MONTHLY PROJECT

Each month, members will be presented with a suggestion for a project or theme that they might like to work on. Sometimes the best way to learn something new is to have a reason to give it a try.

The winner of the January project was Peggy, with his inventive image, Rule of Thirds. Thanks to Michael for judging. The topic for February, chosen by Dave in Peggy's absence, is Red.

Get imaginative. Get your thinking caps on, and shoot anything with, in, on, touching, mentioning Red. The world is your oyster, except it's not red!

As per the rules, the picture must be take during February 2012, and use the following as Tag line:

Monthly Project Submission Instructions
Here is what you need to do to submit an image to the Monthly Project:

• Firstly, you need to be a member of the Flickr website, www.flick.com. It's free to join, as well as being great fun and an excellent resource. Once you're a member, join the 'South London Photographic Society' Group (use the 'Groups' button at the top of the page).

• Check out the MONTHLY PROJECT page on the SLPS website to find out what the theme is for the month.

• Go out and shoot some photos that fit the theme (the hard bit!!)

• Upload your images to your own account (3 images per challenge). The only size/resolution restriction is that each image has to be less than 10Mb!

• Once the images are in your own 'photostream' (the flickr name for your photos), go to the 'South London Photographic Society' group (use the 'Groups' button at the top of the page). Everything else is done from here.

• Click on the 'Add photos' button. All the recent photos in your own photostream will then display. Select the 3 images for the project, and add them.

• You will now be returned to the 'Group Pool', where you will see your 3 images.

• You now need to add the special keywords (called 'Tags'). Click on one of your images, click on the 'Actions' button, and then click 'Add a tag'. Add the project keywords, eg. October 2010 Movement. You can enter them all together on one line.

• You can view all the images (including your own) in theMonthly Project by adding the project keywords (or just one of them) into the 'Search this group's pool' box at the top of the page. This will filter only those images that have tags that fit the search criteria.

• All you need to do now is sit back, wait for the prize, and enjoy feeling of having done something cool this month.

Note: Make sure that your image fits the theme of the current month. Any images deemed to be not relevant may be removed.

And visit the group pool to see what others have uploaded and comment if you have time!

The closing date for each Monthly Project will be the last day of the month.
